WAMC Roundtable April 24, 2012: Storage strategies and numbers

Remember when we were all warned to back up important files to a floppy disk? Now that computers are shipping with giga- and terabytes of storage, we have to think of other ways. We'll be talking about strategies of protecting your data such as using RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks). RAID storage is now available for under $500, and for some people might be the way to go.

Along the way, we'll probably talk about the next thing in data storage--petabytes. Here's an important article on the general subject: The World's Technological Capacity to Store, Communicate, and Compute Information by Martin Hilbert and Priscila Lopez.
