And they're not kidding. From page 1:
Shift to “Cloud First” policy . Each agency will identify three “must move” services within three months, and move one of those services to the cloud within 12 months and the remaining two within 18 months.
From the largest corporations to the smallest businesses and nonprofits, cloud computing now has a greater level of credibility. And the first moves are linked on this site (use the Cloud Computing tab at the top). GSA is moving is 17,000 email accounts to a Gmail-based system, and it expects support costs to be half the existing system. The Department of Agriculture is replacing 21 systems in 5,000 offices for email, instant messaging, and collaboration with a cloud-based solution from Microsoft. They expect to be done in four weeks.
Four weeks.
That may be the most impressive number of all.
