With The Year of the App, we're kicking off The App Diaries - a periodic series of articles and stories about the evolving world of apps. There's a little bit of historical perspective (that would be my contention that I've been using apps for 15 years, ever since I worked with OpenDoc), along with a bit of current overview (that would be my description of the three main features of apps).
